Coat of Arms Presentation and Oath Ceremony was Held at ESHMYO
Rector Mevlüt Karataş: "Çankırı Karatekin University is not a young university with an 18-year-old history; it is a higher education institution that continues its mission of training human resources in the field of health since 1235, as the bearer of an 800-year-old heritage."
Çankırı Karatekin University Eldivan Health Services Vocational School 2025-2026 Academic Year First and Emergency Aid Program Coat of Arms Presentation and Oath Ceremony was held at the Ahmet Yesevi Conference Hall.
The ceremony held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026; Çankırı Karatekin University Rector Prof. Dr. Mevlüt Karataş, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. M. Nuri Öner, Provincial Health Director Dr. Lecturer Member Yunus Emre Bulut, Director of Health Sciences University Gülhane Vocational School of Health Dr. Lecturer Member Fırat Seyhan, Çankırı State Hospital Chief Physician Op. Dr. Yüksel Sayın, academicians and students attended.
The opening speech of the ceremony, which started with a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, was made by Eldivan Health Services Vocational School Director Dr. Lecturer Member Gözde Ede İleri made it.
In his speech, İleri touched upon the educational journey of Eldivan SHMYO and said, "The coats of arms we will present today are a symbol of our students` acceptance not only of a program but also of touching human life, taking responsibility and upholding professional ethical values. This coat of arms represents the beginning of a challenging but honorable journey." he said.
Director of Health Sciences University Gülhane Vocational School of Health Dr. Lecturer Member Fırat Seyhan, in his speech, reminded the students about the meaning and responsibility of the coat of arms they wear and said, "May these coats of arms always light your way; let science be your guide and conscience be your compass." he said.
He also thanked the students and administrators of Gülhane Vocational School of Health Sciences, University of Health Sciences, who participated in the program as guests, for their participation and visit.
The last speaker at the ceremony was Çankırı Karatekin University Rector Prof. Dr. Mevlüt Karataş, as a physician and academician with 30 years of experience in the health sector, expressed his satisfaction in being present at the coat of arms presentation and oath ceremony of the students who have just stepped into the profession.
Karataş believes that the most meaningful period of his career, including his duty as rector; He emphasized that it is a medical process that can directly touch human life and provide health services to individuals in their most difficult moments. Pointing out that such strong and one-to-one emotional bonds cannot be established in many professions, Karataş stated that students will pursue a special and honorable profession in the future where they will serve by establishing direct contact with people.
Stating that the field of health has great value with all its components, Karataş noted that everyone, from the academic structure to all healthcare professionals working in the field, is an important part of this system. Pointing out that the presentation of the coat of arms at the ceremony was a symbolic ritual, Karataş stated that individuals who will work in the field of health are already aware of their responsibilities and have internalized this responsibility.
Touching on the historical background of Çankırı Karatekin University in his speech, Karataş stated that although the university has an 18-year history as an establishment, the deep-rooted history of the city in which it is located dates back to much earlier periods. He reminded that Çankırı has a history dating back to the Roman and Byzantine periods, is in a geographically strategic location and was conquered by Emir Karatekin, one of Sultan Alparslan`s commanders.
Karataş stated that the fourth hospital of Anatolia was established in Çankırı in 1235, and that this is an indicator of the historical importance of the city. He also stated that Darülhadis, the first higher education institution of Anatolia, was opened in this city in 1243 and emphasized that this historical accumulation is still felt today.
In this context, Karataş stated that the university is not only a young institution, but also the bearer of a deep-rooted heritage representing an 800-year history, and stated that the mission of training human resources in the field of health has been continued uninterruptedly since 1235.
Stating that the university is progressing in a goal-oriented manner, Karataş also shared the successes achieved in terms of scientific productivity. Stating that the number of projects in TÜBİTAK 2209 student projects increased from 26 to 447, Karataş stated that they ranked third among 208 universities in Türkiye in ÜNİDES projects. Karataş congratulated the academics and students who contributed to this success and noted that they will continue to produce and develop together.
At the end of his speech, Rector Karataş addressed the students who were presented with coats of arms and took the professional oath and wished them a long and successful professional life.
