Medical Laboratory and Techniques Program

Mission

The mission of the program is to train and raise individuals as members of the relevant profession who receive an education which is suitable regarding occupational standards, who puts the aforementioned education into practice, who closely follows the scientific and technologic developments in the field, who is a modern individual and sensitive towards giving service to society, who improves him/herself according to the occupational conditions and who is solution oriented.

Vision

Our vision is to become a leader institution of education in terms of training and raising individuals who are preferred regarding employment in the sector, who has the education standards which allows him/her to compete nationally and internationally and who is a modern and human centered individual.

Awarded Degree

The student is awarded with the Associate’s Degree in the field of “Medical Laboratory Techniques” along with the title of “Medical Laboratory Techniques Specialist” given that he/she completes the program successfully and achieves all of the program qualifications.

Graduation Requirements

The students who successfully complete all of the required courses, who have a CGPA equivalent to or over 2.00, who have achieved the minimum 120 ECTS (AKTS) and who complete the summer internship which lasts for 20 working days (160 hours) are entitled to the diploma of this program.

Program Qualifications

  1. Masters the medical terminology of the field, makes definitions.
  2. Evaluates and implements the basic scientific knowledge of the field.
  3. Uses the medical equipment according to the rules and techniques, carries out the relevant maintenance procedures.
  4. İmplements the necessary security protocols in medical laboratories, takes personal precautions and creates a safe laboratory environment.
  5. Prepares solutions regarding relevant tests, makes ready the samples for analyses, and conducts practical application.
  6. Defines infection factors, applies the suitable disinfection and sterilization techniques.
  7. Shows the necessary knowledge and skills regarding the processes of taking, storing and transferring a sample of biologic material from the patient for medical laboratory tests.
  8. Interprets and evaluates data, defines, analyzes and takes responsibility in terms of planned actions for the solution of problems using the basic knowledge and skills he/she obtained during education.
  9. Applies the precautions of environmental health and waste management during medical laboratory studies.
  10. Takes responsibility individually or in the group and solves the encountered problems.
  11. Improves himself/herself by following the scientific and technologic developments in the field.
  12. Acts accordingly to the social, scientific, cultural and ethical values when gathering, interpreting, executing and publishing the relevant data.
  13. Explains the structure and functioning of the living being.
  14. Defines the formation mechanism of diseases, knows basic diagnosis tests and applies them.

     15. Possesses basic theoretical and practical knowledge regarding the field.
